Sid Miller has been a Master of Ceremonies and Band Director for over twenty years. Sid is an expert at crafting exceptional parties. As a result of performing and leading his bands at more than 700 events, Sid knows event management inside and out.
Scholastically, Sid has a Bachelor and Master Degrees from Temple University and has completed postgraduate work at the University of the Arts and the Berklee College of Music. He is a flutist, tenor saxophonist, and vocalist specializing in the music of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Sid is also a song writer. One of his songs, “Come and Share My Love” was recorded by the Grammy nominated band, Cintron on their album, “Cintron Absolutely ”.
Sid has performed with a wide range of internationally known artists including Herbie Hancock, Tito Puente, and Norman Conners. Sid’s high profile venues have included the Robin Hood Dell and Madison Square Garden, and he has made appearances on regional television stations including KYW and WPVI. From 1980 to 1989, Sid lead his band, Siembra, across the country, playing original “World-Beat” music at the Kool Jazz Festival opening for Grammy Award winner, Wynton Marsalis, as well as opening for Reggae legend, Jimmy Cliff, on the Benson and Hedges Music Gallery Tour.
Border’s Book Store asked Sid to share his expertise with prospective brides at a seminar they held at their store in Springfield PA, and Sid has published several informative articles that appeared in wedding magazines including Modern Bride and the Jewish Exponent. He is also a member of The National Association of Catering Executives as well as being a member of The Philadelphia Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. He has also been chosen to be a member of the National Register’s Who’s Who in Professionals, which is part of the United States Chamber of Comerce and registered with the Library of Congress.
Several vocalists, who have gone on to international acclaim, have been a part of Sid’s band. His ability to find, mentor, and refine talent has lead four of his vocalists to very productive careers. Vivian Green achieved “Gold Status” with her debut album on Columbia Records. She was also featured in the movie staring Kevin Klein, entitled, “De-lovely”. Another of his vocalists, Patrice Hawthorne, toured as Peaches of Peaches and Herb. Nicole Morris, Sid Miller Dance Band’s first female vocalist, has toured in the hit musical, “Dream Girls”. Male vocalist, Jayar, has toured with George Benson and Grammy nominated, Unirversal Records recording artists Cintron as a co-lead vocalist and keyboardist with the band .
Sid’s philosophy is to strive for perfection and achieve excellence. He implements this philosophy in every aspect of his business. It’s this manner of operating that has kept him in the forefront of private event entertainment and has gained him a stellar reputation among his peers.
